When a piece of Content is Approved and Published, it can be read and distributed to your Subscribers through several channels, including News Digests. Broadcast distributes Content automatically in News Digests based on Subscriber or Cerkl Instance delivery preferences as well as the specific Content's Distribution Settings.

To learn more about approving Content or the Approved page, please review:
How to Approve Content

Content Distributed Automatically

Content is eligible to be distributed automatically in News Digests when several conditions are met:

  • The Content is Approved.

  • The Publish Date has been passed.

  • The Circulation End Date is not yet passed (optional).

  • The Expiration Date is not yet passed (optional).

If you set an Circulation End Date, Content is available via all channels until that date is reached. After that date is passed, Content is still searchable and available for review in the Content Archive, but will no longer be included in other channel feeds.

After the Expiration Date is passed, Content is no longer available in any channel. Subscribers may still be able to access expired Content through saved Bookmarks or links.

Default Delivery Settings

Subscribers who have not yet gone through the personalization process in their Welcome Email will be sent their News Digests based on the delivery day, time, and frequency set as your Instance's default. The default for your Instance can be seen and edited inside Settings > News Digest.

Subscriber Personalization

You can view a Subscriber's delivery preferences inside their Subscriber details pop-up modal. Depending on whether or not the Subscriber has gone through the personalization process, the News Digest sending date, time, and frequency will vary.

Subscribers who have gone through the personalization process in their Welcome Email will be sent their News Digests based on the delivery day, time, time-zone, and frequency that they selected. If a large group of your Subscribers are personalized, they will most likely be getting their News Digest Content at different times, days, and in different frequencies.

Subscriber Interests

The Content pulled into each Subscriber's personalized News Digest is based on their weighted Categories of interest. Broadcast will personalize each News Digest based on the Subscriber's implicit and explicit Category interests.

To learn more about how News Digests are created with these interests, please review: How Do News Digests Work?

Distribution Settings

Depending on the Posting Priorities set for specific pieces of Content, some Content may go to everyone inside their News Digests regardless of the Subscriber's interest.
