When creating a Blast, you can alter Email Settings for a specific Blast inside the Blast Editor, allow you to change defaults for the Blast without applying them to others.

Most Email Settings are maintained for Duplicated Blasts and Templates, even after your Cerkl Instance has updated its Controls and Settings. To learn more about your Cerkl Instance's global default settings: Blast Controls.

To access Email Settings, open the Blast Editor, click the ⋮ Ellipsis button to the right of Exit, then click Email Settings.

Below are the email setting options that you have for individual Blasts.

Reminder: Click Save as Draft after making any updates to the Email Settings to save your changes to your Blast.

General

Private Blast

When Private is toggled on, the Blast is only listed and accessible by the Blast creator and Administrators of your Instance (inside both Blasts and Insights). To learn more, go to Private Blasts.

Please Note: This option is only available for Internal Organizations. External Organizations do not have access.

Suppress Auto-Replies

If your email is getting packed with Out-of-Office replies and other automatic replies in response to your Blasts, you have the option to suppress auto-replies.

When Suppress Auto Replies is toggled on, Broadcast will include a message header that attempts to stop email clients, such as Microsoft Outlook, from sending back auto-responses to the sender of a Blast.

Full Width Email

Toggling Full Width Email will limit formatting to basic elements, making your Blast appear as if it were sent from an app like Gmail or Outlook.

Full Width Email means your Blast's elements will span the full width of the email instead of being placed in the center of it. To learn more, go to Full Width Blasts.

Please Note: This option is only available for Internal Organizations. External Organizations do not have access.

Branding

Text

You can set the default Front-Family for the Text Elements you use in a Blast. By default, this utilizes the Paragraph Type Scale Style in Blast Controls.

The font options available in the drop-down are fonts that we know all email clients will render correctly.

Type Scale

Check the status of your current Default Type Scales for the Blast you're editing. For information about Type Scales, please review Type Scales Overview.

If the Type Scales in your Blast match the settings in Blast Controls, you'll see

If the Blast is using unique or older settings, you can update the Blast to utilize the default Controls settings by clicking Sync with Controls.

Note: After syncing, new Blast elements added will automatically use these defaults - However, elements that have already been added will need to have formatting cleared, then reapplied to match the synced styles.

Backdrop Color

With Blast Backdrop colors, emails opened in a desktop view can have unique colors surrounding the email. By default, Blasts will utilize white as their Backdrop color, but when creating from Templates, Blasts will utilize the color set in the Templates' settings.

Backdrop colors are not visible on mobile - To set a color background for Blast Elements that will appear in mobile, set the Element Layout settings for the Container. For more information, please review: Layout Options of Blast Elements - Container Styles.

Footer

Underneath the Footer Options header, you may see the following options that you can toggle on/off for your Blast: Append Organization Footer, Display Profile Image, Display Social Links.

When it comes to editing your footer, External and Internal Organizations have different options:

Both Internal and External

Turn Display Profile Image and Display Social Links on/off in the footer of the Blast.

Internal Organizations

Turn the footer in the Blast on/off (Append Organization Footer). The company owns all the emails they are communicating to.

External Organizations

They do not have the option to turn the footer in a Blast on/off because the information in the footer is required by law for external accounts sending to email addresses they don't own.

Personalization Fields

Fallback Text

Personalization Fields are a valuable way for your team to communicate information that is unique for each and every recipient. To learn more, read How to Use Personalization Fields.

Personalization Field Fallbacks are used as default information in Personalization Fields if a Subscriber does not have valid data for an attribute - Setting Fallbacks will help ensure your Subscriber's don't receive an email with text like *|FULLNAME|* by accident.

From this menu, you can set the fallbacks for Email, First Name, and Full Name for the specific Blast.

To change the default Fallbacks for any attribute enabled for Personalization Fields, go to your Blasts > Controls page. For more information, please review: Blast Controls - Personalization Fields.

Reminder: Click Save after making any updates to the Email Settings to save your changes.
