When filling out the Audience section of your Blast, you will have the option to choose a Match of Any or All. This will determine which Audience Members will be added to your Blast's Target Audience.

Any vs. All

After selecting the Segments and Categories of interest you would like to target, you have the option to choose Any (default) or All to the right of Match.

Please Note: Before sending out your Blast, preview your Audience to make sure you are targeting the correct Audience Members. To do this, click the Target Audience box. This will open a pop-up modal where you can view, sort, and search through the Audience Members your Blast is going to be sent out to.

Any

Any is a non-mutually exclusive operator. This means ANY Subscribers that are a part of the Segments you selected OR have indicated that they have interest in a Category you selected will be included in your Blast’s Target Audience.

All

All is a mutually exclusive operator. This means ALL Subscribers that are BOTH in a Segment you selected AND have indicated that they have interest in one of the Categories you selected will be included in your Blast’s Target Audience.

Example

Using the data tables below, this example will show how choosing Any or All can alter your Blast's Target Audience.

Segment 1

Segment 2

Hunter

Alex

Maddy

Emma

Robbie

Tanner

Subscriber Name

Categories of Interest

Hunter

Customer Success, Design Thinking

Maddy

Customer Success, Fashion

Robbie

Technology, Engineering

Alex

Volunteer Work, Design Thinking

Emma

Fashion, Marketing

Tanner

Leadership, Marketing

For this example, our Blast is going to target Segment 1 and the Customer Success and Fashion Categories of interest.

Any

If I select Any, my Blast’s Target Audience would be made up of the following Subscribers: Hunter, Maddy, Robbie, Emma

  • This is because these four Subscribers are either in the targeted Segment OR they have interest in one of the two targeted Categories.

All

If I select All, my Blast’s Target Audience would be made up of only the following Subscriber: Maddy

  • This is because Maddy is the only Subscriber that is both a part of the targeted Segment AND has interest in at least one of the targeted Categories.

Once you finish selecting your Blast's Target Audience, check out this article to learn how to schedule or send your Blast.
