Blast Editor Basics
Welcome to the Blast Editor, where you’ll create and send the most engaging emails of your career! (And probably a few boring ones because that’s just the way it is.)
Let’s ease into it. Watch the editor in action then we’ll show you around.
1. Name Your Blast
First things first: Give your Blast a clear, unique name so it’s easy to find later. Make it a habit to start here.
2. Email Settings Menu
View the menu for Email Settings like Private Blast, Full-Width Email, Backdrop Colors and more.
3. Drag and Drop Elements
To lay out your Blast, pick up Elements from the right and drop them into the canvas on the left. As you add more, a blue line will appear where you’re placing them. You can drop Elements to the top, bottom, left or right of others, up to four in a row.
4. Elements
Each Element has core functions plus a Layout tab, where you can adjust padding, background colors and more. Once you’re satisfied with an Element, press Keep at the bottom.
You’ll use a lot of Text and Image Elements to build your Blasts. Practice with options like linking an Image to a URL, and learn about a few other elements below.
Video
Add a video link to pull in a preview image and add a play button. When subscribers click from their inbox, they’ll go to where the video is hosted.
Divider
This one helps you add polish, organization and a little breathing room to your design. Toggle off the divider line for some extra white space.
Combo Elements
Whenever you place Elements side by side in your canvas, they will be stacked top to bottom on mobile devices. Combo Elements help group items like Images and Text captions so they stay connected on mobile devices.

5. Move, Duplicate, Delete
Hover over Elements on the canvas for tools. Click and hold the Move icon and start dragging to reposition. You can also duplicate and delete.
6. Autosave and Save as Draft
Autosave is on by default, and it runs when you Keep an Element. (It isn’t saving on every key stroke and change.) Check under your Blast Name to confirm when your Blast last saved.
You can also press Save as Draft to manually force a save at any time.
7. Preview
Preview is a good place to see how your layout is adjusting on Mobile, but it’s still always wise to Send Sample, and review on desktop and mobile.
8. Sending Info
Here, fill in your sender’s name and email address, and write a clear, engaging subject line. The address must match your organization’s domain.
Preview Text
Consider adding Preview Text, especially if the first Element in your Blast is an Image. It allows you to control what text subscribers see in their inbox preview pane. Make it informative and a little snappy to entice people to open.
9. Send Sample
With Elements in place and Sending Info set, you can send yourself a sample. When you add Team Members, they’ll appear in the selection list, or type in an email to send to a colleague who doesn’t use Broadcast.
Keep in mind your internal security may block emails sent via Broadcast until you complete technical setup in Settings > Configurations.
10. Audience
Here, you can choose who will receive the Blast.
Audience Builder
Use the Audience Builder to target your Blast to one or more Segments. Need to include someone who isn’t in the Segments? Add Individual Recipients such as yourself or a leader.
11. Schedule or Send
Schedule your Blast in just a few clicks. If you’re traveling or supporting a team in another time zone, you can set a custom time zone to ensure the email reaches your audience at the right time.
Send Now
We send Blasts every five minutes, so Send Now could mean we’ll start sending to your servers in a minute or five. It may take time for your servers to keep it moving on to inboxes, especially if you have a large audience.
