There are three different ways you can remove Subscribers from a Manual Segment:

  1. Find a Subscriber by name and then remove them from a Segment.

  2. Find a Segment by name and remove Subscribers from that Segment.

  3. Use bulk actions to remove many Subscribers from a Segment at once.

All of these options are explained below.

Go to Audience > Subscribers > search for the Subscriber’s name, then do one of the following:

  • Click the Subscriber's name OR the blue pencil icon next to the Subscriber's name to open the Subscriber Details modal > scroll down to Manual Segments > click the X next to the Manual Segment you would like to remove them from.

  • Click the box to the left of the Subscriber's name > click Update Segments at the top of the screen > click Remove from segments > a pop-up modal will appear > check the Segments you would like to remove the Subscriber from > click Submit.

If you go to Audience > Segments > search for the Manual Segment’s name, then do one of the following:

  • Click the Segment name > click Edit Segment.

  • Click the blue pencil icon under Actions.

After you follow the steps above, you will be taken to the Manual Segment. On the right side of the screen you will see a Results list, which shows all the Subscribers in the Segment. To remove a Subscriber from this Segment, search for their name/email > click Remove next to their name > a pop-up modal will appear to ask if you are sure > click Yes.

Please Note: You can only do this with Subscribers inside of Manual Segments (which are marked with a wrench icon). To edit which Subscribers are in a Dynamic Segment you will need to alter the Segments’ rule sets. If you would like to learn ways to update a Dynamic Segment, check out this article.

If you want to remove multiple Subscribers from a Manual Segment at once, you can use bulk actions. Go to Audience > Subscribers > filter by the Segment you would like to remove Subscribers from > click Apply Filters. You can then CHECK the box to the left of the Subscriber names you would like to REMOVE from your Segment. When you are happy with the names that are checked, click Update Segments > Remove from Segments.
