To select the audience in Blast go to the To & From section.
Here you will see the Sender Info and Send To information.
You can set your Target Audience by Segment or by Category:
- Segments - The Segments in which you will send the Blast out too. You can click on the box that says “Search Segments” and either type in and select the Segment you want to add or you can just select the Segment from the drop down menu. You can select as many Segments as you want.
- Categories - These are the same categories your subscribers have indicated they are interested in. We DO NOT recommend not using these, because the categories and segments you select are not mutually exclusive. Therefore, a Blast will be sent to everyone who has a preference for the category you are sending to regardless of if they are in the segment you have selected to send to. Only use this if you’re looking to send to Subscribers outside of your Segments based on interest as well.
Before selecting your Audience for the Blast there are 2 important aspects you need to know about:
- You can click on the Blue Target Audience Box to pull up the Audience modal where you can view, sort, and search through all the Audience members who you have selected the Blast to be sent out to.
- There is a button labeled ANY and ALL under that box. Below is an example where I select a segment and multiple categories to send the Blast to and show the difference in audience when selecting ANY or ALL.
Customer Success, Design thinking
Customer Success, Fashion
Volunteer Work, Design Thinking
After looking at Segments and Categories I have chosen Segment 1 and the Customer Success and Marketing categories.
If I select ANY my audience for this Blast will be: Hunter, Maddy, Robbie, Tanner, and Emma. This is because ANY is a non-mutually exclusive operator. The Subscribers who will receive the Blast are either a part of the Segment I have selected OR have indicated they are interested in either Customer Success or Marketing.
If I select All my audience for this Blast will only be: Hunter and Maddy. This is because ALL is a mutually exclusive operator. Hunter and Maddy are in Segment 1 AND have interest in either the Customer Success or Marketing. The rest of the audience members were not included because they only were only in one group or the other, not both.
