Audience Manager > Import Subscribers

General instructions:

Click the "Select File" button to upload your file.

Here are a few guidelines when uploading your subscriber list:

  • We require a .csv or .txt file that is a maximum size of 2MB.
  • Subscriber emails are required, and they should always be in column 1 of the spreadsheet
  • Name is not a required field
  • If you include names, place them in column 2 of the spreadsheet
  • If a name is not provided, Cerkl will use everything before the @ of the email for that subscriber's name
  • Select a segment to add the subscribers to if you would like
  • Have open only one tab in Cerkl
  • Scrub list (if necessary)

We provide some images of what your spreadsheet should look like for your upload at the bottom of the Import Subscribers page.

Add subscribers only for Blasts:

These subscribers will not receive your regular newsletters. They will also not count towards your total audience size or impact the metrics found in insights except for the Email Campaign Metric.

To manually upload a single subscriber go to Audience Manager > Add Subscriber and check the box for "This subscriber will only receive Blasts (no automated personalization newsletters)."

To upload an entire list of subscribers to your email campaign, you will go to Audience Manager > Import Subscribers (the purple button on the left side of the page). Select your file you would like to upload, and then check the box that says "this list will only receive Blasts."

Audience Manager > Add Subscriber

  1. Email: Email address of the new subscriber
  2. Full Name: Full Name of the new subscriber
  3. Add to Segments: Allows you to apply specific segments to the new subscriber
  4. This Subscriber Will Only Receive Blasts: Turning this on means the subscriber will only receive Blasts and no automated emails
  5. This is required to add your new subscriber.

Audience Manager > Segments

What are segments?

Think of segments as the demographics of your subscribers (i.e. age, gender, location, profession, etc.). Segments are not your subscriber's interests. Our categories feature (Content > Controls) organizes your organization's topics to inform the interests of your audience.

You can send content to specific segments in Content Manager by clicking the orange gear icon to bring up Distribution Settings > Segments. Then select the segments that you want to see the content, and choose whether or not you would like to restrict the content to those segments.

You can also send content to specific segments when creating a Blast. When creating a Blast, scroll down to the "Segments" box, and type in the segments you would like to send the email to.

Adding subscribers to segments manually:

To add your subscribers to segments, head to Audience Manager. There, you can select certain subscribers and click Update Segments > Add to Segment to include them in a segment. Simply repeat this process to add your subscribers to multiple segments.

Adding subscribers in bulk to a segment:

If you have a large number of subscribers that you'd like to add to a new segment, then it'd be best to re-upload these subscribers rather than manually change their settings. This is an easy and quick step!

Remember: create your new segment (Audience > Segments > Create Segments) before you re-upload your subscribers.

Go to Audience Manager > Import Subscribers (on the left-hand side of the page). Click the Select File button in the middle of the page or drag and drop your file into the window.

To import subscribers through a .csv to a particular segment:

  • Be sure that the segment is already created
  • Go to "Import List," select the .csv file and upload
  • Select the segment you would like to upload the subscribers to

You also have the option to ensure your new list of subscribers will only receive Blasts. After uploading, simply click the box that says "the list will only receive Blasts.

Audience Manager > Controls
