If your organization runs on Google Workspace, there are a few helpful things to know when you send Calendar Invites through Broadcast. We’re here to make sure your invites land exactly how you expect—both in inboxes and on calendars.

Invite Titles

When you create a Broadcast Calendar Invite, the Title you enter does triple duty:

  • It becomes the subject line of the Invite email.

  • It becomes the name of the event in the recipient’s calendar.

  • It can trigger a Google Calendar Flare banner.

Google Calendar Flare Banners

A Google Calendar Flare banner is a visual banner that sometimes appears at the top of certain Google Calendar invites. These banners are auto-generated by Google based on keywords in your event title.

You might have seen them before, like when you add a holiday to your calendar and a festive image pops up.

Currently, there’s no user or admin setting to turn off Flare banners in Google Workspace. They’re baked into the Google Calendar experience.

Trigger Words

Google doesn’t publish a definitive list of Flare trigger words, but community-generated lists are out there. Try searching online for “Google Calendar Flares” if you’re curious for other resources.

To save you time, here’s a business-friendly list of known Flare triggers as of today:

  • All Hands

Flare Banners Aren’t a Bad Thing!

Flare banners can actually add a fun or thematic touch to your calendar events. But it’s helpful to know when they might appear, so you’re not surprised by the extra flair.

If you want to see whether your Calendar Invite Title will trigger a Flare banner, send yourself a Sample or test invite before launching your staff send.
